About The Tournament

Duo Wars is an action-packed, one-day 2v2 soccer tournament happening on April 20, 2025, where U10 to U17 teams will go head-to-head in intense, high-energy 10-minute battles. Teams of 2 to 4 players (including one goalkeeper) will compete for glory, with the main prize being a Free Team Training Session by One and 9 Soccer Training. Every match promises fast plays and fierce competition, with each team guaranteed at least four games. Jerseys will be handed out at the field. The registration fee is $100 per team, and only one parent needs to sign up by April 6, 2025. Get ready to bring your best game for an unforgettable day of soccer!

How to Register for Duo Wars

To register for the Duo Wars tournament, follow these simple steps:

  1. Form a Team: Gather your players and ensure you have 2 to 4 members, including at least one goalkeeper.

  2. Designate a Parent: Choose one parent or guardian to be responsible for the team’s registration and payment.

  3. Complete the Registration: Visit the iClass Pro platform to fill out the registration form and submit payment of $100 by December 25, 2024.

Duo Wars Tournament Schedule

  • Date: April 20, 2025

  • Boys' Tournament: Starts at 2 PM

  • Girls' Tournament: Starts at 2 PM

  • Game Format: 10-minute matches (with at least 4 games guaranteed per team)

  • Arrival: Teams should arrive early to warm up and prepare for their matches

Final game schedules will be announced after registration closes.

Duo Wars Tournament Rules

Field of Play by Group Age Group:

  • Duo Wars uses 2 Different Sized Fields based on Age Group. 

  • Players Register by birth year. (Birth year bracketing is based on the soccer calendar turning over on August 1st each year.) 

    • Small Fields (15 yards wide x 20 yards long) / U10 and U12 Age Groups / 6ftx12ft Goals / 6-yard goal zone 

    • Medium Fields (20 yards wide x 25 yards long) / U14 & High School Age Groups / 7ftx16ft Goals / 6-yard goal zone 
  • *Tournament Directors may combine age groups if the numbers combined provide better competition for both groups. (Ex: 10U & 11U may be combined to 10U-11U. No more than 2 age groups will be combined.) 

Soccer Balls:

  • Each field will be provided with 10 balls 

  • Only one ball is permitted on the field of play during match play. 

  • If two or more balls are on the field during match play, the referee, at his/her discretion may stop the game until the excess balls are removed.  (There will be 10 balls at each field.) 

  • Size 4 balls = 12U and under 

  • Size 5 balls = 14U and older 

Game Procedures:

  • Each team must arrive at the field 5 minutes before their scheduled match and check-in. The referee will complete a coin toss. The winner will choose if they want to start with the ball or decide which side they want to start on. 

  • All other bracket participants must act as ball retrievers and feeders. (Each field will have at least 10 ball provided) 

Rosters:

  • Team must have a minimum of 2 players and a maximum of 4 players 

  • One player must be a goalkeeper 

  • Ages can be mixed but you will play in the oldest player's age bracket  

  • Genders can be mixed but you will play in the boys bracket 

Equipment:

  • All players must wear their assigned tournament jerseys.

  • Shin guards are mandatory for all players.

  • Footwear must be appropriate for turf or grass surfaces.

Referees and Officials:

  • Each match is controlled by a referee who has full authority to enforce the rules of the tournament director including but not limited to the following: 

    • Referees will keep the score 

    • Ensures that the ball meets size and inflation requirements 

    • Ensures player equipment requirements 

    • Shin guards are required for our event 

    • Acts as timekeeper and scorekeeper for each match 

    • Stops, suspends, or terminates the match, at his/her discretion for any rule infringements, safety precautions, player injuries, unsportsmanlike conduct from participants, parents and/or fans 

    • All match related decisions are determined by the referee and are considered final once a match has ended. 

    • The Tournament Director reserves the right to modify the tournament rules should he/she deem it necessary. 

    • All decisions are final, no protests will be accepted. 

Time Limit:

  • The match duration is 2 halves of 6 minutes with players changing sides during a 2-minute half-time. 

Event Format:

  • Each team is guaranteed a minimum of 4 games, dependent on the event. 

  • 3 points are awarded for a win / 1 point for a tie / 0 points for a loss 

  • Tiebreaker for playoffs: 

    • Points 

    • Head to Head (In the event of a 3-way tie, head to head is taken out of consideration.) 

    • Most Goals Scored 

    • Least Goals Conceded (Goals Against) 

    • Goal Differential 

    • Sudden Death PK Shootout 

Scoring:
Competitors receive points by scoring on the opposing team like in a full-sided game. 1 point for each goal scored. (There are no max goals allowed.) 
 
Tied Game Rules:

  • Round Robin: Games during match play (round robin) that are tied at the end of regulation will be decided by a round of 1v1s from the halfway line. (2 attempts) 

  • Example: If a round-robin game ends in a tie, 5-5, then each team will get 2 1v1 Pks from the halfway line. If there is a tie still each team will finish with a point. If there is a winner that team will get 3 points 

  • Playoff Games: All Playoff games will not be allowed to end in a tie. In the event of a tie during playoff competition, an overtime period of 3 minutes will be played with a golden goal finish.  

  • Shootout: If after 3 minutes of Overtime, the game is still tied then the players will go to Sudden Death PK Shootout. (PKs are 10 yds for 11U and below and 12 yds for 12U and up.) 

Distribution / Restart:

  • Distribution is the method by which a goalkeeper starts or restarts play and scores goals. 

  • A goalkeeper may distribute the ball in the following ways from their hands or the ground: 

    • Throw 

    • Volley 

    • Dropkick 

    • Stationary kick 

    • Roll and kick 

    • Dribble 

Goal Zone:

  • This is a zone in front of the goal 6 yards for the small field and 8 yards for a large field. The zone is the width of the field. 

  • Opponents cannot enter the opposite team’s zone 

  • The game always starts and play restarts from the goal zone 

  • Once the ball leaves the goal zone it cannot be passed or taken back into the zone until a change or possession. 

  • The ball must leave the goal zone within 6 seconds. See below for Six-Second Rules 

Six Second Rules:

  • Goalkeepers must distribute the ball within 6 seconds of taking possession of the ball. Possession means that said goalkeeper firmly maintains control of the ball by catching it, stopping it, or receiving it from the sideline or their teammate. 

  • If the ball is not distributed within 6 seconds that team will be called for a delay of game. A delay of game violation results in a change of ball possession. 

  • The referee will count the 6-seconds out loud for the younger teams 

Substitutions:

  • Substitutions can be made on the fly. Incoming players must exchange a high five with the outgoing player. Subs are unlimited  

Starts / Restarts:

  • Starts and Restarts begin in the Goal Zone. 

  • The referee will conduct a coin toss.  Whoever wins will decide if they want the ball first or pick which side of the field they start the game on. 

  • Teams switch sides at the half. 

  • The team that did not start with the ball at the beginning of the match starts with the ball in the second half. 

Out of Play:

  • The ball is out of play when: 

  • It has entirely crossed the goal line, touchline, or sideline whether on the ground or in the air. 

  • If a goalkeeper saves or deflects the ball out of bounds it changes possession to the other team to start from their goal zone. 

  • If your team is scored on the ball will restart in your goal zone to continue play. 

  • Ball shaggers are allowed to toss or roll the keeper the ball when needed. 

Ball In Play:

  • The ball is in play and live anywhere on the field for all players except in the goal zone. 

  • REBOUNDS: After a keeper makes a save or a player makes a block AND the ball stays in the goal zone no opponents can rebound. If the ball exits the goal zone from a block or save the ball is live for everyone. 

Goal Score:

  • A goal is scored when the entire ball passes over the goal line, between the goal posts, and under the crossbar, provided that no infringement of the laws of the game has been committed before the goalkeeper distribution. 

  • A goal cannot be scored from the opponent’s goal zone unless it’s a own goal. 

Penalty Kicks:

  • All PKs will be 1v1s from the halfway line and the goal zone isn’t active 

  • All fouls and handballs are automatic PKS. 

  • Goalkeeper starts on the line but can come off the line after 1st touch 

  • All players must be behind the halfway line but can move forward are the first touch. 

  • Play continues after save or shot. This includes the goal zone reactivating. 

Penalty Shoot-Out:

  • There will be no rebounds or goal zone 

  • All spectators will be behind the halfway line on the opposite side of where the kicks from the mark will take place. 

  • All soccer balls will be at the halfway line. 

  • Coin to determine who will shoot first. 

  • 2 PKS each. Teams can choose two shooters this can be the keeper or two outfield players 

  • PK will be sudden death after the first two rounds if it is a tie. 

  • Gk will shoot at the referee's signal; the referee’s whistle or verbal signal. 

Match Winner:

  • The team earning the greatest number of goals by the end of the match is the winner. 

Offside:

  • A team is offside when anyone enters the opponent's goal zone. After infringement, he/she loses possession of the ball. Play resume for the opponent’s goal zone 

Modifications:

  • Any or all rule modifications may be made at the tournament director's discretion including but not limited to: 

    • Combining Age Groups 

    • Field size 

    • Ball size 

    • Goal size 

    • Game duration 

    • Adjust the total number of matches 

Weather:

  • If the weather stops playing during a match. For the match to count, the match must make it to half time to stand as an official match played. If a weather-related issue stops the match prior to making it to half time the match will be postponed. If the match is not able to continue due to weather, the game will not officially count as played. 

  • If weather stops the event from completing and a minimum number of 3 games have been played, the event will be considered final. Standings will determine the winners. 

  • If fewer than 3 games have been played, then a partial refund will be given or a transfer of the full registration fee to another event will be offered. 

Injuries:

  • Keepers must complete the match in order to win the match. Once a serious injury takes place, an Athletic trainer must state they are safe to continue to play the game. Once this takes place, parents and injured players are able to decide if they would like to continue. 

  • If a player drops out leading up to finals matches (quarterfinals, semifinals, or finals) the next highest ranked player in their bracket will be moved up in the injured player's position. *We strongly advise not leaving our event early if you are close to moving on to finals games due to this possibility. 
     

Cancellation/Refund Policy:

  • If the Duo Wars event or the tournament gets canceled, the participant registration fees may be transferred to another Duo Wars event or we will issue a refund.

  • A partial refund or transfer of registration will only be given with advanced notice 1 week before the event. 

  • Refunds will not be given without prior notification or if the player is a "No Show" on game day.

We also offer a Single Sign-Up option for $50, allowing individual players to join the tournament and be paired with a teammate. Don’t miss out on this fun and competitive event!
